OMG

Something today made me think of The Heavenly Horse from the Outermost West by Mary Stanton. I was OBSESSED with that book, and it's sequel as a kid. I was digging around on deviantart today and there's actually FANART. Not a lot, but it's there. The 9 year old in me is overjoyed. I think I need to dig up my copies and re-read.

It’s Halloween – Time for Spooky Stories

So I was just going to link my ages old posts on spooky stuff I have here on my blog from my livejournal days - but they're so old that they're hidden, so I decided to just rewrite them and share them with a decades-later perspective.    I grew up loving ghost stories - especially "true" ones, and admittedly had (have) an over-active imagination. I ...

Halloween!! (Part 1)

Besides our Hocus Pocus photoshoot, we've already done a handful of Halloween-related events, so I thought I'd go ahead and post a few photos. Last week I actually won a contest on facebook, getting free tickets to go see a showing of Hocus Pocus on the big video screen at Redbirds Stadium. Kevin and I both wore our Hogwarts uniforms, since it was rather chilly out. We didn't get to ...

Adventures in House Hunting

My way home from my new job takes me right by a house we looked at when we were house hunting back in 2009, so yesterday in my head I was reminiscing about it and some of the other places we looked at. We looked at a lot of short sales/foreclosures, since we could possibly get a bigger house for less money that way, but most of the ones we ...

FAQ Friday: Construction

Today's question is... What's your favourite part of making a costume? whats your favorite part of construction The beginning and the end. Haha, no, really! The beginning is so exciting. I love gathering up reference pictures and sourcing materials and wigs and shoes. I love mulling over how I’m going to tackle it in my head. I probably spend more time at work thinking about costume construction than I ...

Halloween is one week away…..

Do I have time to rush-make a complete costume for your Halloween party? You've waited til exactly a week before Halloween to ask, and you want it for 1/10 the price of what I would charge even IF I did commissions? Oh, so now you're asking to borrow one of my costumes? So, overall, the answer is...

Hocus Pocus preview

Sorry I've been so MIA lately, I didn't have a Throwback Thursday queued to post today. Blah. Just been busy and such. So the only news of any import is that we did a Hocus Pocus photoshoot this past weekend. YAY! Haven't gotten them all yet but here's a preview. I'm really excited about the rest. We didn't do them all on the white backdrop, did some scenic photos too (...

Disney Excitement

I have developed a code system so I can relate to Chase how excited I am about our upcoming Disney trip. Code Purple: The moment when we agree we can start planning our next trip. Code Blue: The quiet moment of joy that comes when we've paid off our trip. Code Yellow: Those moments when you're thinking about something else and you suddenly remember you're going to Disney soon. Code ...

FAQ Friday: SDCC vs Dragoncon

Today's question is... The age old question: SDCC or Dragoncon? It’s seriously like comparing apples and oranges. I’ve been to both – Dragoncon every year since 2002, and SDCC for 2004-2006, so I've seen the ups and downs of both conventions. SDCC’s perks are pretty apparent from all the news you see covering it. You’ve got the chance to see and meet big stars, and exciting news and ...
