some art, some stuff, some dolores

It’s been a long week, I had a dentist appt that I thought would be short and easy and it wasn’t, it totally wiped me out. Not from like, the actual work done, but from the anxiety over it, before and after. Ugh.

But I’ve spent all week printing my costume photos in the evenings which has been a lot of fun, seeing it come together. Here’s Luna checking it out:

It’s so neat having physical prints of everything. I’ve probably got about another 20-30 more to go, depending on how old I want to go with it.

And speaking of prints, my uncle gave me this cute little printer:

It prints little 2×3 stickers. I tried out with a Luna photo, and a few of my art. I’ve also got a roll of like, tiny label sized ones, but the 2x3s are more fun. I’m going to print some more to sell at the con.

I haven’t done much work on Bespin Leia this week. I wanted to dig in and get Dolores finished, and I thought that would only take a night – of course it took longer than that. I’m having to handsew all of the trim on by hand because it’s too thick for the machine. I finally got the neckline trim finished last night – tonight I’m hoping to finish the sleeve trim and it’ll finally be done.
I still need to make a leather pouch for the belt. Speaking of which my belt is looking great:

I also bought a white dress on amazon to use as my petticoat/chemise:

It’s far from perfect (and oh so cheaply made it’s hilarious) but it’ll work just fine, it’s super soft and comfy, and the lower part will look nice if I have to pick my skirts up to walk somewhere.

The night after my dentist stuff I came home to a mystery box from the Disney Store. Turns out Chase bought me some surprises a while back and it just happened to show up that day which was great because I needed it. It’s all stuff from the new MYXZ line.
First up there was this super cute sweatshirt with tiny Avengers all over it:

And then an adorable Star Wars magnet and eraser set:

Of course I’ll never actually use those erasers, they are all set up with some of Star Wars collectibles looking cute. The Leia eraser is especially sassy.
And the magnets are awesome!

I’ve been trying to get in some drawing in between working. I thought it would be fun to do a whole Star Wars series similar to how I did my SunDowner characters late last year – I quickly scribbled out these on scrap paper during my lunch at work one day. It’s taken me a bit to hit the stride and by the time I got to the 3rd one – Poe – I feel like I’ve got the look I wanted. I may go back and redo Rey and Leia – at least Leia, that’s the first one I did and the one I’m least happy with. It’ll also be helpful to switch to my sketchbook where I can easily look back at what I’d drawn previously to make sure I’ve got the right vibe.

I’m going to keep going with the TFA gang – Finn will be next – and then put them all together in one big pic – again, just like I did with the SunDowner art from last year.

Tonight — I’m hoping to finish up the trim on Dolores, start curling the wig, and get some more prints made. Then it’s back to all day long embroidery party tomorrow and Sunday…
