a bit of everything

new magic bands!

I’m Jyn, Chase is Cassian, Kevin is K2SO. I may wear this new one instead of my Haunted Mansion band… my Haunted Mansion band will always kinda be my “AP Year” magic band. Speaking of which, our APs officially expire tomorrow.

Anyway, Kevin got to open the box with me, he’s excited!

This is our first time getting the new packaging/bands, so that was exciting. It’s certainly much less fancy than the old but more economical like Chase pointed out.

While Kev’s parents are out of town we are checking in on the cats/getting their mail. Tried to get a picture of Izzi but she wouldn’t stay still long enough. Fuzz-E posed beautifully:

I was on my way over yesterday after work to check on them when a fire engine roared out of a station behind me. I realized they were coming my way, so I pulled over into a parking lot right away, since right up ahead the road becomes a very small 2 lane, windy road with nowhere to pull over. They went past me, and I pulled back out onto the road, only for them to stop right ahead of me. Ahead of us were a couple of cars pulled over right around the first curve of the road, and just around the bend I could see where a car had gone off into the ditch. People were scrambling around so I wonder if someone was hurt. I just quickly backed up and turned around and left so as to not be in the way.

After that I went on home and found balloons on the door from Nana, for Chase’s birthday!

I was kinda stuck on working on Leia, so instead I got Kevin ready and pulled all of his jedi stuff out, ironed it and looked it over to see if it needed any repairs.

I popped the black facing off the front panel I’d put on for his Ceremonial a couple of years ago — so the silver flap shows again. I also took up the sleeves at the shoulder a little bit – his shoulder seam was hanging low and making the sleeves too long. I got the top pinned in two places where I need to put a snap in – one at the neck (replacing the old velcro which was uncomfortable), and one at the chest behind the silver flap. There’s nothing there so it tends to droop.

He also needs his belt fixed. That’s on Chase’s to-do list. His old belt no longer fits him, so for the NYE event we did I had to just take the buckle and slide it onto the back of another belt that did fit – and tape it in place in the front LOL. So yeah need to get that fixed up so it looks right.

Then when Chase got home we went out to meet my parents and grandparents for dinner for Chase’s birthday, that was a lot of fun. Good fries too. After that we followed my parents to their house, where I could lay out my Leia fabric and the lining flat and get them pinned together. I don’t have a place big enough in my house to get it completely laid flat and pin it!! Mom said that’s something I need to consider when we buy our next house LOL But my parents’ living room is big enough so mom helped me get it laid out and the lining pinned on. So tonight I can hopefully get that sewn together.

Speaking of Leia, since last post, I have tweaked the tunic a bit, fixing the side splits, and started working on the collar:

I just have the layers pinned together right now, obviously. I’m waiting to do anything else on it to make sure it tonally matches my cape, so I wanted to get the cape a little more put together so I can see them together.

But I’m hoping that by the end of this weekend I’ll have the cape mostly finished, just leaving the belt and trim. I really hope. I still have play costumes to work on with mom before we leave for Celebration!

Oh! And he’s not super interesting but here’s Yoda for my Star Wars art project:

Working on a Sabe (in the battle decoy outfit) next. Then I need to swing around and do another TFA character, probably Hux. Then I gotta do Chewie as much as I’m avoiding it.
