a very hairy easter

I have absolutely no costume stuff to talk about today. Chase was going to Nashville this weekend, and originally I was going to stay home and get started on Amidala and Crait Leia. But at the last minute I decided to go to my grandparents for the weekend instead. It worked out nicely; Chase was able to take my car to Nashville (which saved a ton on gas), and he just dropped me off at my grandparents’ in Jackson on his way out Friday and picked me up on his way home Sunday.

To start with, Friday I had my hair coloured! I have really been missing my red lately — it’s been almost exactly a year since I went brown — so it was time to start reintroducing it.

I wanted to keep it darker on the roots so my Leia extensions still match, so he did it “Brownish-red” at the roots and “reddish brown” at the ends, so it has a little bit of a gradient effect that is super cool.

Got up to Jackson around 6:30 and went to dinner with Mema & Daddy Bob, then Chase headed on to Nashville.

Catty Bob

Saturday I slept in, then we went out to Target and had lunch at Red Robin. We got this chocolate ice cream cake dessert that was so frozen Daddy Bob had to cut it with a knife and fork and it looked like he was cutting a steak LOL

Then had a long nap… then to dinner at a pizza place and we ran by Books a Million. I got a LOTR blind box and got a tiny Gimli which I apparently don’t have a pic of on my phone.

Mema gave me a little easter bunny that hops and it took all 3 of us almost an hour to figure out how to open its battery compartment.

Mema trying to get it open while Catty Bob judges me.

Sunday morning Chase left Nashville early, stopped and got me, and we headed home, checked on the cat, dropped our bags off and went right back out the door to Easter lunch at Kevin’s.

Soooooo. A couple of posts ago I mentioned how my other grandma had fallen and fractured her leg? She’s been in rehab doing PT for 2 weeks, finally got to go back home on Friday but she’s in a wheelchair for a while. So my parents picked her up (and her wheelchair) to bring over for Easter. Well getting a lady in a wheelchair into a house with so many steps was… uh, tricky. Especially since nobody has much experience with them. First she almost got tumped out of the chair going in. Then we had a set of 4 steps down into the recessed living room. Dad and Chase tried to pick it up and carry it down. I was standing outside the door and all I could see was dad falling over down the steps and the wheelchair going down. From my point of view it was really scary.

THANKFULLY nobody was hurt. Dad fell down most of the stairs headfirst and into a small table, but said he only hurt his wrist a little. Chase was able to keep the wheelchair from falling too much so my grandma was OK, too, just a little shaken up. I’m glad we didn’t end up at the ER for Easter Lunch. It was pretty hair-raising. Which is why I named this post a hairy Easter.

Needless to say we did not try to pull her OUT of the house in the wheelchair after lunch. We helped her up the stairs separate from her wheelchair that time.

Anyway, lunch was nice. Afterwards we tried to go to Target to get some cat food only to find out Target was closed for Easter. Good ! They should be closed on Easter. So we went to Kroger and picked up some stuff then came on home.

Chase cooked dinner and we watched Jesus Christ Superstar Live which was great!

Don’t talk to me or my son ever again.

Art duuuuuump

First up, snowbunny Padme from 2010:

New version:

Had a lot of fun with this one. Downloaded some “fur” brushes and was really pleased with how it came out.

And then I decided to really focus on Ep 3 Padmes.
So here’s “Kissy Buns” from 2010:

And new:

I was really happy with her face on this one.

Blue Linen w/Shawl from 2010:

And new:

Aqua Georgette from 2010:

And new:

I think her face is a bit off on this one. I may go back and tweak it a bit later. I think her mouth is a little too wide? And one eye looks a bit bigger than the other. So I think it would be minor tweaks. Just need to do it.
(edit: the version above is he later “fixed’ version. still not great but a slight improvement over what was originally posted.)

And Mustafar from 2010:

And new:

This is the first of the Star Wars re-dos I haven’t been happy with. She just looks weird. I think I may just erase her head and redo it from scratch.
(same with this one, the above image is a later version I tweaked. again, still not great, but better than the first version was.)

Onto Disney…
got some more mermaids done! Ariel first, here’s the 2010 version:

Which I actually always liked this one — it was one of the first ones I did in the 365 project (before it became the 365 project), so it wasn’t as rushed as a lot of the later ones. So I really didn’t do a ton of redrawing on the new one:

Redrew the face, arms and her waist area a bit.

And Arista from 2010:

And new:

I still remember when I posted the original one in 2010 and somebody said “she looks pregnant”. That stuck with me so I redrew her body to be a bit less angular.

Working on the green velvet dress from Ep3 now and then I think I’m going to do Sleepless Knights. Then that’ll just leave Liberty Dies and Funeral and I’ll have Ep 3 Padmes done…. I want to put them all together!

HOUSE STUFF>…
We got some good advice on selling the house and realized we need speed everything up. Next weekend is going to be getting the interior painting done, more stuff packed up, and getting a storage unit rented to move that stuff out. Also this weekend I’ve also got to go out to my parent’s house and clean up my old closet to make room for my costumes. I’ve already wrangled Kevin into helping me move all the bins in a couple of weeks when he stays with us. They just have to have somewhere to go.

We’ve just really got to get the clutter out of the way and make the house presentable. So that’s probably all that April is going to be for us. We want to have it up for sale by May. Yikes!
