Sailor Star Jupiter – Sailor Moon (Eternal Form)

Made for: Katsucon 2003

Background: I thought it would be fun to “upgrade” my Super Sailor Jupiter to an Eternal/Sailor Star style.

Basically I just took my Super Jupiter costume from 2000 and added parts.

Patterns Used: See my Sailor Jupiter page for pattern info.

Suit Upgrades: I took my original pink bow off the back and attached the ribbons around the waist and added the long streamers to the back. I couldn’t find a light green ribbon to match my fabric, so it had to be made from the green fabric – ended up making too much and didn’t want to waste it, so I did four light green streamers in the back instead of two. I added the second skirt underneath the green one – I took my original green one off and used it as a pattern to make the second, light green one. I really like how it came out. The sleeves I made and attached over the original Super ones – having the organza “Super”-style sleeves inside the green sleeve caps helps give it some body. I couldn’t find any of the original green fabric I used, so I had to get some close to do the darker green trim at the bottom.

Accessories Upgrades I made a new brooch for the center bow, and I added ribbons to the gloves. I made new star earrings, as well, though after the first con I went back to the rose earrings.

Boots: I bought the boots online and added the green ribbon and yellow stars. I lost the stars on the boots after the first time I wore it and never replaced them, though.

History: I wore this a LOT! I did finally retired it after a few years, but recently I did a photoshoot with it in 2013 – I can’t believe it’s held up as well as it has for so long, so it’s still wearable in case I want to wear it to a con again!
