Wonder Woman – DC Comics (Alex Ross Style)

Made for: MidSouthcon 2007

Background: I wanted to do a Wonder Woman costume and decided to base it on Alex Ross’ artwork.

Journal Entries: Read more at my Wonder Woman tag

Patterns Used:
None

Bodice/Briefs:
I didn’t do a lot of sewing for this costume; – the bodice I bought on ebay. The shorts are bikini bottoms I also bought online. The only thing I had to sew for this was a red tube-top I wear under the bodice.

Armor Pieces: My husband did the bulk of the work on the metal pieces. He made patterns for each piece of the chest emblem, and one for the belt and tiara. We bought brass sheet metal, cut it all out, then attached the pieces to the bodice. All the pieces are removeable (velcro) so they can be packed. I had a hard time finding a star for the tiara; I had to settle on a smaller star for MidSouthCon and eventually found a better sized one later.

Accessories: Boots were bought on ebay, the wig I had. The lasso is just a length of gold rope trim.

History: I sold this version in 2012/2013-ish… didn’t think I’d wear it again, especially since I made a new “classic” Wonder Woman costume in 2009, and I still have that one.
