Ripley – Aliens

Made for: Wonderfest 2006

Background: I made this to match a couple of friends’ Alien costumes.

Shirt/Pants: My first place to pick up stuff for this costume was Goodwill. I found a white turtleneck a couple of sizes too big, and a pair of hightop Reebok. I picked up a pair of pants on ebay, as well as a super cheap wig. I took the shirt in a little, took the collar off and cut the sleeves off shorter. Then I weathered the whole thing with dye and left it out in the sun… it made some interesting effects that I really liked. The pants didn’t take to the dye as well, so I weathered them with paint.

Shoes: As I mentioned I found the hightop Reeboks at goodwill. I repainted parts of them red, and made the upper sections out of vinyl. That was the hardest part, since I had to hand-sew most of it because it was too thick to go through the machine.

Accessories: The wig I got on ebay and trimmed, and the belt and suspenders I bought straps for and sewed them together. The pulse rifle was on loan from Skip.

History: I only wore this for Wonderfest, and then I lost the wig (I think we lost it when it got used as a Harry Potter wig at the last Deathly Hallows opening…). I got a replacement to take a few new pics with in 2013. Planning on selling it soon.
