Princess Leia – Star Wars (Ewok Village Dress)

Made for: Adventurecon 2007

Background: This seemed like an easy, comfortable Leia costume to tackle next.

Journal Entries: Read more at my Ewok Leia tag

Patterns Used:
possibly McCall’s 2888

Dress:
I picked up the fabric on ebay (stretch faux suede), and I used a basic dress pattern for the dress. I drew out what I thought the bottom of the dress looked like based on my references – from that, I started cutting the skirt up. I also added another layer underneath, and I decided not to cut the slit up the side quite as high as hers. I made the belt out of the same fabric. I did the stitching up the front seamlines, and added the sleeves out of white cotton.

Accessories:
The sandals I bought online, not happy with them – they’re the only uncomfortable part of the costume. The wig I also bought online, and added the braid to, and the wrapping around the braid. The braid wrap is the same stuff I used to do the stitching up the front of the dress. I did eventually get new sandals that match better, too!

In 2019 I restyled the wig and once again got new sandals! Those updates can be seen in the “2020 Photoshoot” photos above.

History: This is such a comfortable costume and easy to wear, so I’ve worn it a lot. I wish all my Leia costumes had such easy hair!
