Burgundy Velvet – Unused Concept

Originally posted October 22 2018.

So with this one I started edging towards the “outfit for concealing a pregnancy” looks — AKA most of the unused ROTS concept art.
This one gave me some problems. I’ve never liked how the face turned out and the costume just turned out kinda weird. I liked the idea of doing a deep burgundy red/silvery grey/natural white combo — based off a historical garment I had saved on pinterest. But not sure it worked here. To top it off originally I had her leg emerging from the split in the side of the dress, to show the natural white bodysuit and boots she’s wearing underneath it (I liked the idea of a quick change – senator one second, pull the robe off and ready for action)… but the leg just weird and wrong so towards the end of the project I went back and redrew the leg in a more natural position. I should have also redrawn her face, but I didn’t.
Anyway I imagine the bodysuit underneath to be a knit similar to her AOTC battle suit, the robe is velvet with insets of a lighter colour silk on the sleeves. Black velvet collar supports the wide silver ombre “Elizabethan” collar.
Maybe one day I’ll revisit this one and try to make myself a bit happier with it.
