Rainbow Gown – Unused Concept

Originally posted June 25 2018.

This was the first concept piece I did in the project, and originally it was supposed to be the only one I was going to do. (But it was a slippery slope.) I based it on the “concept wedding” Padme costume I did back in 2004, drawn in the way I had INTENDED mine to look, LOL. That costume was based on 3 different concept pieces for Padme’s wedding dress, none of which made its way into the wedding dress seen on screen.

The base of the dress is a white satin with a mermaid style shape to the skirt. The sleeves have a draped, dyed chiffon overlay, as well as 4 tiered trains in the back of the same chiffon, and matching veils on either side of the face. A purple corset holds everything in place at the center. In the back is a large, bustled up piece of ruffled fabric which adds a sort “wing” shape to the silhouette of the dress. THe hair is held in place with a gold tiara and black, sequinned ribbons.

Man I so want to remake this costume!
