Rogue – X-Men (Age of Apocalypse)

Made for: Dragoncon 2009

Background: I have always loved this outfit of Rogue’s, so why not.

Journal Entries: Read more at my AOA Rogue tag

Patterns Used:
Simplicity 8855
(sleeves)

Leotard:
I started out by buying a yellow leotard with attached gloves and green leggings from a dance store. The leotard arrived and the gloves attached to it were horrible – I had to spend more time than I wanted taking them up to actually look like gloves and not like giant dishwashing mittens. I cut them off the leotard rehemmed them and rolled them up to create the cuff, then replaced the sleeves on the leotard with new green sleeves, made from the extra length of the green pants. I made the puffy sleeves using a pattern, attached the band at the bottom and a shoulder pad at the top, and sewed them onto the leotard.

Pants:
I also bought the leggings, as I said above, and cut the lower legs off to make the sleeves of the leotard. I added the darker green stripes to the pants.

Boots:
The base boots are my previous Rogue boots. I made the upper sections out of foam and yellow spandex. They’re sewn on to the boots along the front, and velcro along the back. The “jewels” were sanded down Silly Putty eggs, repainted.

Accessories:
My husband made the collar for me. The wig was two wigs I sewed together., both bought on ebay. I made the legband a little last minute (I forgot about it) and sewed it onto the pants.

History: I wore this several times over the weekend at Dragoncon 2009 (because it was comfy) but then never again until I finally did a new photoshoot with it in 2014.
